OXFORD JUNIOR WORKBOOKS - A series of colouring/learning to read books with progress tests and a variety of activities.

We create a multimedia presentation of a theme in Photo Story or Movie Maker

Here are a few of the themes we have explored:

The Tudors
We study and analyze the Tudor period and the events that transformed English society - the Reformation, the break with Rome, the six wives of Henry VIII, the Dissolution of the monasteries, the impact of new technology on social and political change.
Text based information is taken from the Internet. We also watch and discuss Professor David Starkey's Channel 4 production of "The Six Wives of Henry VIII".

Shakespeare
We study and analyse a Shakespeare play and write a synopsis of each act. We also watch and discuss a film version of the particular play.
Some of our studies will cover the life of Shakespeare the man and the times in which he lived.
Leading us will be Michael Wood who produced and directed the acclaimed BBC series "In Search of Shakespeare" http://www.mayavisionint.com/Catalogue/In_Search_of_Shakespeare/index.html

The Atlantic Slave Trade
We study and analyse the trade, the main players and the victims' journey to the New World. We discuss the causes and the responsibility.  We also watch and discuss the first 3 episodes of the TV series Roots http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/R/htmlR/roots/roots.htm

Pupils will carry out assignments based on the term's studies or produce a multimedia presentation in Photo Story or Movie Maker
